Firm History

Quincey, Becker, Schuessler, Chase & Devitt S.C. has been providing high quality legal expertise to the Dodge County community since 1902. Our firm is one of only two in Dodge County rated "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell, a national rating and referral service of the legal profession. This rating reflects that individual members of the firm have achieved the highest rating in legal ability and ethical standards of practice.

We are the oldest continuing firm in Dodge County, having been established by Attorney George Swan in 1902. Ernest P. Strub joined Mr. Swan in practice in 1946 and the firm became known as Swan & Strub. Frank D. Woodworth joined the firm as an associate in 1958 and became a shareholder in 1960. At the same time, Judge William O'Connell retired from the bench and joined the firm, and the name became Strub, Woodworth and O'Connell. Frank Woodworth died in 1992, after an eighteen-month battle with cancer.

Ken Quincey joined the firm in 1970 and became a shareholder in 1974. The firm name was changed to Strub, Woodworth and Quincey. Ken continues with the firm today as the senior shareholder.

Eric Becker joined the firm in 1975 and became a shareholder in 1979. The firm name changed in 1979 to Strub, Woodworth, Quincey & Becker.

Tom Schuessler joined the firm in 1983 and became a shareholder in 1987. The firm name then changed to Woodworth, Quincey, Becker & Schuessler. In 1990, Tom moved to Mayville to work with Attorney Walter Schellpfeffer as the firm merged with the Schellpfeffer Law Offices. Tom and Walter worked together for four years, at which time Walter retired and became of counsel. Walter has now retired from the practice of law.

Attorney Karla Chase joined the firm in 1995 and became a shareholder in 1999, and the firm name became Quincey, Becker, Schuessler, & Chase, S.C.

In May 1999, the firm moved its Beaver Dam office from 129 Park Avenue across the street to a new building at 130A Park Avenue.

In October 2000, Attorney Steve Hannan joined the firm, bringing with him many successful years of experience in the general practice of law in Beaver Dam.

Attorney Mike Devitt was welcomed as an associate in September 2005.  In January 2010, Attorney Devitt became a shareholder and the firm name became Quincey, Becker, Schuessler, Chase & Devitt S.C.

Attorney Katherine Koepsell joined the firm in June 2009 as an associate.

Throughout the changes in our firm's history, our commitment to quality legal services has remained the same. We look forward to continuing to serve the surrounding community in the exceptional manner upon which our reputation has been established.
